Pat Mitchell Studio features art dedicated to American Saddlebreds.
My "art career" was brought on by the inability to find appropriate equestrian items to decorate my own home. If I had been looking for red coats, lassos or race horses that would've been easy. But my love for American Saddlebreds was a different story. Therefore, I proceeded to decorate a few functional items for myself and was coerced by a friend to sell my work at a saddlebred show. That was in 1994 and I still prefer to embellish functional pieces. My quest to "get a horse on it" has led to many different techniques and mediums. I do some watercolor, oil, pastel and acrylic but my tendency is more toward "functional" rather than what I call "wall art" or "flat art". You will be much more likely to find my work done with copper or glass ... or painted on a decorative item.
My work is available at Falling Rivers Gallery in Albemarle NC and once a year I show in Louisville, Ky. at the World's Championship Horse Show in August.
Inventory will be updated as available so be sure to check back in often.. contact Pat (
